Richard Peckham elected as Chair of UKspace

Richard Peckham, UK Strategy & Business Development Director – Airbus Defence and Space Ltd, has assumed the role of Chair UKspace following the recent departure of Patrick Wood from Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL).

Richard (right) is a previous Chairman of UKspace and has stepped into the role with immediate effect.

He will provide a stable leadership and ensure continuity for industry at this particularly critical period for the space sector and the trade association. With the triggering of Article 50, he will maintain momentum across industry to ensure we respond to the industrial strategy Green Paper and build a Space Growth Partnership to deliver a sector deal for our industry.

Richard Peckham said: “I was very sorry that our Chairman Patrick Wood has had to resign his post, but I am ready to re-take the helm at this challenging time as we navigate Brexit, develop a new industrial strategy for the space sector and look for new opportunities in international trade.”

Andy Green, President of UKspace, said: “I am really delighted that Richard has been elected as Chair of UKspace. The sector stands on the threshold of taking full advantage of the benefits offered by the Government’s Industrial Strategy, and Richard will help to provide the leadership and strategic direction during a busy and exciting time for the space industry.”
