Royal Brunei Airlines introducing daily non-stop Heathrow-Brunei flights

Royal Brunei Airlines today announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between London Heathrow and Brunei International Airport, effective 28 October 2018.

The non-stop flight to Brunei, a result of the airline dropping its Dubai stopover, will see guests enjoy faster journey times, with the Brunei-London Heathrow route reduced from 18.1 hours to 14.6 hours and the Melbourne-Brunei-London Heathrow route reduced to 23.2 hours from 28.4 hours.

Karam Chand, CEO, Royal Brunei Airlines, says: “The introduction of Royal Brunei’s non-stop flight between London Heathrow and Brunei is a significant milestone as, for the first time, Brunei and the UK will be seamlessly connected by a direct air link. With the strong cultural, economic and political ties between the two countries, we are very proud to be able to provide this daily connection. Our Dubai stopover has served us well but, following an increasing demand from our customers for a direct connection, we have been working toward this goal and are very excited to be able to announce its implementation before the busy Christmas period.

“The approximately 14-hour flight on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will show off our very best in-flight services including 1,000 entertainment options, lower cabin altitude, low noise and less turbulence to help reduce jet lag. We are also looking forward to announcing further product and service innovations throughout 2018.”

Adiel Mambara, Country Manager UK & Ireland, Royal Brunei Airlines, said: “Brunei is an exciting destination with a wealth of undiscovered treasures which will appeal to inquisitive UK travellers. Our non-stop flights will be an enabler for increasing tourism to Brunei from the UK and Europe. In 2017, Brunei had a record number of visitors and we would like to double tourism to the region by 2021.

“With our one-stop flight to Melbourne, we will also become a major player in the UK-Australia market. We offer our customers award-winning service and hospitality and excellent value for money – an attractive offering for those looking to travel to Australia at the end of this year. Our routes from London, additional regional flights within Asia and new markets to be announced will all play a pivotal role in achieving our aims. Royal Brunei now offers a very compelling case for UK residents to seamlessly travel to Brunei and, whilst there, enjoy the many attractions of Brunei and the island of Borneo.”

While Royal Brunei will cease operating the Dubai-London-Dubai route, the airline will continue to serve the GCC region with four weekly Brunei-Dubai-Brunei services effective 29 October 2018.

With these changes, Royal Brunei has updated the schedule for its Melbourne flights to cater for better connections within its long-haul route network. These schedules are subject to slot clearances and government approvals.
