Serco appoints new Director at HMP Thameside

Craig Thomson has taken over as Serco's new Custodial Operations Director at HMP Thameside in South East London. years.

Craig (right) is a highly respected and experienced Prison Director, who comes to Thameside from HMP Kilmarnock in Scotland where he has worked for the past three years.

Craig has a distinguished 30 year career history working within the criminal justice sector around the world.  He served in both the public sector prison service and the police service before joining Serco in 2001 as the Deputy Director of HMP Dungavel.

Prior to taking up post at HMP Thameside Craig has previously been the Director of three separate custodial prisons over the last 12 years for the Ministry of Justice and the Scottish Prison Service and he brings significant leadership and operational experience to the team at Thameside

Talking about his new job, Craig said: “I’m really proud and excited to be at HMP Thameside.  This prison has an outstanding reputation and a great team who do a fantastic job.  I’m really looking forward to working here and building on all the good work that’s been done over the past few years.”
