Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

We have a Permanent postion available for a dymanic indivudal. The position is for a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQA). The position involves working within a team of engineers visiting supplier facilities, with a high degree of travel (settling down as the team develops) The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in SQA Knowledge of Aerospace Quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To Liaise with all internal stakeholders that require supply chain improvements
  • Be responsible for developing suppliers using the appropriate quality tools (Process Capability, SPC, FMEA, Error Proofing, 8D and DoE)
  • Provide support and assistance to suppliers in development and execution of corrective actions, with strong focus on preventing reoccurrence
  • Perform supplier evaluation and process audits
  • Lead/participate in quality system and/or process audits as needed
  • Give quality input into strategic purchasing decisions
  • Develop and monitor supplier performance metrics and initiate improvement plans when appropriate
  • Administration and management of supplier NCR’s, from creation to closure, including verification of corrective actions
  • Administration and management of approved supplier database
  • Leads and participates in supplier and in house improvement events
  • Drive supplier quality management in line with AS9100 and SC21
  • Ensure new and existing suppliers understand and meet our needs for FAI parts, traceability, conformance, etc
  • Manage a Supplier Improvement Programme (SIP), to enhance our product quality, by working closely with our development suppliers to improve their performance
  • Participate and contribute in Material Review Board reviews
  • Travel nationally and internationally
  • Take initiative and seek results in a structured way
  • Clear communication (both verbally and orally) to all levels within the organisation on quality related topics

 

Essential Criteria

 

  • 3rd level qualification in quality, engineering or other technical field
  • Relevant experience in a quality, engineering or other similar role
  • In depth knowledge of quality and/or aerospace standards (ISO9001, AS9100)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally at all levels within the organisation
  • Ability to travel worldwide  at short notice (with this being up to 80% of the working week during periods throughout the year) - Reducing as the team builds.

 

Desirable Criteria

 

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer role
  • Member or Associate Member of the American Society for Quality or hold a Chartered Quality Institute Certification
  • Six Sigma Black belt certification
  • Quality Auditing Certification
