TechwaY launches ready-to-use embedded EW solutions at DSEI 2015

Launching ready-to-use embedded EW solutions at DSEI 2015, ExCeL, 15-18 September 2015, TechwaY is looking to expand its technology into the international market, showcasing its products and services to defence system integrators and potential distributors from the defence, avionics, medical, nuclear and industrial sectors.

Whereas in the past, FPGA technology may have implied long and costly development, TechwaY has resolved these issues by providing turn-key solutions to its customers. Thanks to advanced technology, these pre-integrated solutions boast complex intensive data crunching and high-speed communication nodes.

Twelve years of working closely with top players in the French defence sector have equipped TechwaY with substantial expertise in data processing and providing support. This innovative French company offers advanced high-speed data acquisition and ready-to-use embedded data processing systems that are as simple to use as a desktop computer.

TechwaY will also exhibit three major innovations that were recently deployed in major French defence and aerospace programmes:

1) Pre-integrated boxes for multichannel data acquisition and pre-processing

EAGLE multichannel data acquisition and pre-processing boxes were originally developed for brand new passive radar applications and are well suited for all multi-sensor applications. These fully-integrated multichannel data acquisition and pre-processing boxes deliver data over two optimised 10 GB Ethernet links to computers. This technology drastically simplifies the systems integration of multichannel applications. Use of FPGA technology for embedded pre-processing provides systems with state-of-the-art performance.

EAGLE boxes are used by ESA (the European Space Agency), ONERA (the French Aerospace Lab) and the Thales Group (defence contractor).

2) High-speed recorders

TechwaY’s recorder solutions have been developed to take advantage of its EAGLE acquisition and pre-processing solutions. Thanks to its partners, the company has been able to incorporate various types of inputs (analogue, digital, ARINC 818, HD-SDI, GbE, sFPDP). TechwaY offers several recorder formats, including a SWAP and 19” rack mount recorder.

Numerous environmental specifications are available, and clever storage systems allow data to be easily unloaded if needed. TechwaY’s recorder solutions have been deployed on several aircraft certification programmes and demanding test benches.

3) High-speed optical communication interface

The TigerFMC is a high-density optical interface for embedded processing. It provides an unmatched overall throughput of 200 Gbps. The TigerFMC is an FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) based on the latest FireFlyTM devices from Samtec.

The TigerFMC is fully compliant with the VITA 57 standard. It can be used on any FMC carrier, including PCIe, VME/VXS or VPX boards. The TigerFMC provides a powerful upgrade for legacy systems with advanced optical communication links, and requires minimal integration. TechwaY’s latest ARINC 818 optical video switches have been used by Airbus on the A350 certification programme and are equipped with TigerFMC.

TechwaY develops advanced embedded and industrial solutions for image and signal processing. The company’s added value is to offer pre-integrated solutions that facilitate the use of these complex technologies and reduce their cost. This is the result of a close R&D collaboration with leaders of the defence, avionics and energy industries, such as Thales, Airbus Group, Sagem, the ONERA, EDF, MBDA and Areva. We offer a wide range of high-end embedded systems and boards such as high-speed recorders, rugged servers, and analogue (from MSPS to GSPS) and digital (ARINC818, CXP, sFPDP, GbE, etc.) data acquisition systems.
