European Space Solutions is a major 3-day conference, exhibition and business support event that will bring together business and the public-sector with users and developers of space-based solutions to explore how space can make a real difference to the lives, and livelihoods, of people across Europe.
The UK has ambitions for significant growth in the space sector and the European Space Solutions event will seek to stimulate and promote growth with a particular focus on the downstream sector. From health authorities to food producers, emergency response organisations to energy providers, the European space industry provides solutions and services to a wide range of individuals, businesses and organisations.
The high-level plenary session on Monday 3 December featuring David Willetts MP, European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani and Sir Richard Branson will focus on the framework for ensuring growth in the space sector. This session will be of particular interest to the space community.
Half-day seminars on 4-5 December will look at the needs of 11 specific sectors that have the potential to drive growth in downstream markets. Participants from these 11 business areas are invited to learn about what space can do for them today and to discuss the possibilities for new initiatives to meet unresolved needs. The seminars are user-led, focussed on the business sectors rather than space, and speakers will come from the business area concerned.
A business support fair will operate in parallel to the half-day seminars to allow discussions between potential users and the space community.
The event is being held at the Westminster Central Hall in London and is organised and funded by the European Commission.
Public Exhibition
In addition, the European Commission is bringing to London a state of the art, interactive public exhibition on Horse Guards Parade which will offer the public a chance to learn about how space makes a difference to their lives on a daily basis (3-9 December).
