UKCeB Excellence Awards to be held at Defence Information 2013

With the theme 'Secure Collaboration across Team Defence' - which is central to the mission of the UKCeB - DI'13 will combine inputs from thought leaders and decision makers with an interactive workshop approach to debating problems and solutions and good practice sharing. It will be supported by extensive exhibitions and demonstrations over two discrete days - examining how a team defence approach to valuing information as an asset and secure collaboration can deliver common solutions and increased interoperability - in an environment designed to encourage and support effective networking that will include the UKCeB Good Practice Awards.
The UKCeB Good Practice Market Place and Excellence Awards recognise, celebrate and share successful collaboration practices in team defence.
The MoD DE&S once again supports this opportunity to recognise effective collaboration in five categories:
• Business Improvement & Transformation
• Human Factors Integration
• Valuing Information as an Asset
• Secure Information Sharing
• Support Chain Management
The event's Market Place is an ‘ideas forum’ where finalists share project experiences and good practices with conference delegates and peers. The diversity of projects and participants is a further stimulus for innovatory thinking, learning and mutual benefit. UKCeB is keen that entrants showcase the interplay of technologies, people and processes in successful projects.
In the course of visiting stands in the Market Place, DI’13 attendees will have chance to vote. These votes will be taken into consideration by an independent panel of judges who will visit all the finalists’ stands to select their top submissions, which will be binding. Highly Commended and Commended certificates will be presented as well as the overall winner of the UKCeB Excellence Award. The winner will present at the plenary session.
Previous overall winners of the UKCeB Excellence Award include the LSC Group, Microsoft UK, the DII group with ATLAS and Deep-Secure Limited. Synopses of their projects and press releases are available on the UKCeB website - www.ukceb.org - ‘Future Events Information’. You are invited to submit your entry using this form by the deadline of 15th March 2013 . The UKCeB will down-select a shortlist of finalists by 19th March and a condition is that all finalists participate with a free stand / space and 2 free attendee places at the Good Practice Market Place on 17th and 18th April at DI’13 in Shrivenham.
Ian Tibbitt (TDHB Ltd), Dan Smith (MoD DE&S Support Chain Management) and Professor Karen Carr (Cranfield University) comprise the panel of judges. A précis of finalist submissions will be included in the DI’13 Delegate Packs and finalists are welcome to create a two-page entry flyer for use on their stands. The criteria for judging submissions are:
• Degree of collaboration involved
• Potential for application in other areas
• Impact of work
• Innovative Approach
• Ease of implementation
