OpenWorks Engineering has been awarded a purchase order to provide the US Department for Homeland Security (DHS) with counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) capability under the Amentum DoD IAC MAC contract.

Amentum specialises in advanced engineering and innovative technology solutions to support evolving requirements from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T). Amentum was awarded the DoD IAC MAC contract by the US Air Force’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron.

The IACMAC is an indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract that provides a wide range of mission-critical Research and Development to hundreds of required activities throughout the DoD. Under this contract, Amentum offers its research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) expertise to meet urgent US defence needs.

Why high precision and accuracy are key to effectively tackling drone threats

James Cross, Chief Commercial Officer, OpenWorks said: “We’re incredibly proud to support the US Department for Homeland Security with performance C-UAS capability. The US is host to a number of high-profile sporting and cultural events, where the world’s eyes will be watching. The threat posed by nuisance and malicious drones is well-documented with sightings at airports, major events and military locations. The precision and accuracy afforded by Vision Pace will contribute significantly to ensuring security for US citizens and international visitors.”

The contract marks a key milestone as it represents the deployment of Vision Pace’s capability on three continents since its launch in 2025.

OpenWorks’ Vision Pace C-UAS will contributes to the US Government’s ever-increasing air defences to reduce the potential for unwanted surveillance, nuisance engagements and payload threats. It combines the latest imaging technology with a direct drive, low friction positioner to provide stabilised tracking of highly dynamic targets. Vision Pace systems are configurable, lightweight and compact and can be used with built-in twin-AI modules or third-party classifiers and trackers. A Laser Range Finder (LRF) provides accurate and fast geospatial target reporting, whilst an integrated radar and sensor-fusion capability enhances operational deployability.

The Vision Pace Rapid Deployment Kit enables operators to deploy ultra-accurate sensing with ease. With an integral battery pack, storage space and specially designed lifting points, the system can be moved to advantageous positions, enhancing tactical flexibility and operational readiness.
