UK security innovators invited to join S&P 2027 Immersive Experience

UK companies and academia are being invited to showcase their technology as part of the live Immersive Experience at Security & Policing 2027.

Applications have opened for organisations to take part in the Immersive Experience at Security & Policing 2027, putting their technologies into a live operational scenario in front of government, policing and security decision-makers.

Developed by the Home Office’s Joint Security & Resilience Centre (JSaRC) alongside ADS, the Immersive Experience is one of the centrepieces of Security & Policing, which returns to Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre from 16-18 March 2027.

Rather than displaying products in isolation, the experience uses realistic sets, digital effects, and live demonstrations to show how technologies could be deployed to address security challenges. Supplier products are demonstrated alongside the people who could use them operationally.

The theme for the 2027 Immersive Experience is ‘Securing the Nation – Strengthening the Economy’, with proposals expected to support priorities within the UK National Security Strategy and Resilience Action Plan.

JSaRC and ADS are particularly encouraging applications from UK SMEs with technologies that can be demonstrated interactively.

Security & Policing itself brings together more than 400 suppliers and is attended by UK and overseas government representatives, law enforcement organisations and senior security decision-makers. The closed event is hosted by JSaRC, with attendance subject to Home Office approval.

Security technologies wanted for S&P 2027

The call identifies five areas in which JSaRC and ADS want to see new capabilities, spanning frontline policing, national resilience, borders and UK sovereign capability.

Safer streets and modern policing

For public safety and policing, the organisers are looking for technologies that can reduce harm and support modern policing.

Areas identified include risk assessment, knife crime and serious violence, neighbourhood policing, online harms, early intervention and violence against women and girls.

The scope leaves room for technologies ranging from tools that improve how threats and risks are identified through to systems supporting investigations, prevention and policing operations.

Protecting the systems Britain relies on

National resilience and critical systems is another major focus, covering protection against cyber, physical and hybrid threats.

JSaRC is seeking capabilities for critical national infrastructure protection, AI-enabled monitoring, incident response and threat intelligence, alongside technology that could help address hostile-state threats.

Disaster preparedness is also included, opening the call to systems designed to improve how organisations anticipate, manage and recover from major incidents and disruption.

Smarter and more secure borders

The secure, intelligence-led borders strand covers technologies for making border operations both more efficient and more secure.

Automated processing, biometrics and identity technologies and screening systems are all specifically identified.

There is also a strong transport dimension, with technologies sought for small boat detection, maritime and aviation security and secure trade.

Building sovereign UK capability

The organisers are also interested in technology that strengthens the UK’s ability to develop and sustain strategically important capabilities at home.

The sovereign capability and prosperity category includes advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, critical supply chains and energy security.

Export potential and SME growth also sit within this strand, reflecting the link between national security, industrial resilience and economic growth in the 2027 theme.

AI, biometrics and connected security

Not every technology needs to sit neatly within one of the four main areas.

A fifth cross-cutting category covers AI and advanced analytics, data and communications integration, integrated cyber-physical security, identity, biometrics and trust, alongside technologies supporting productivity and automation.

How to apply for the Immersive Experience at S&P 2027

Applications are being made through an online form, which JSaRC says should take around 10 minutes to complete. Companies can provide links to case studies, images and videos supporting their submission.

Proposals will be reviewed by JSaRC, ADS and relevant government stakeholders against several criteria: how well the technology fits the strategic themes; its operational relevance and impact; innovation; whether it can be demonstrated safely and effectively; and evidence supporting the capability.

That evidence could include case studies, independent evaluations, operational results, user feedback or accreditations.

A virtual information session will be held on 4 September from 10:00-11:00, allowing prospective applicants to hear from the JSaRC and ADS team and ask questions about the experience.

Applications close at 23:59 on 18 September 2026.

Organisations selected to take part will need to provide staff time for installation and delivery, cover their participation and transport costs and have an exhibition stand at Security & Policing 2027.

In return, participants will receive additional promotion around the Immersive Experience, including event branding and communications, online coverage and opportunities to put their technology in front of government representatives, buyers and senior decision-makers.

Find out more and apply to participate on the JSaRC website.
