Babcock invests in emerging talent in Poland

Launched in 2024 the programme already employs two full time engineering graduates who are now in their final year of a two-year programme, as the company continues to invest in emerging talent in Poland with a further two graduates set to join the company. 

The new graduates will follow the same programme as their colleagues where they will complete placements across a variety of roles within the Miecznik frigate build programme and other operations in Poland and the UK. 

Also joining the new graduates at the company will be an intern for 2026 as part of an ongoing internship programme with the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia. Working alongside Babcock colleagues, customers and the supply chain, the intern will also develop their skills and understanding of the global defence industry by spending time at Babcock’s Rosyth operations.

Underpinning Babcock’s global commitment to skills development both programmes mark a ramp up of investment in emerging talent in Poland where the new starts will join the existing Babcock Polska Team already operating between Babcock’s bases in Gdynia and Warsaw. The company has an established presence in Poland where it works closely with PGZ-Miecznik Consortium as the platform design provider and technology partner for Poland’s Miecznik shipbuilding programme – with the ship design based on Babcock’s Arrowhead 140 platform. 

The internship and graduate programmes also follow the successful introduction of an international apprentice exchange programme which was launched in 2023 with PGZ Naval Shipyard (PGZ S.W.) and has since provided exchange opportunities for Polish apprentices through visits to Babcock’s Rosyth facilities in Scotland. Last year students from CKZiU nr. 1 academic institute in Gdynia and Forth Valley College in Scotland participated in an exchange at their respective facilities as part of the programme.
