Developed in partnership with Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD), a leading motion control technology company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, this collaboration brings together industry-leading expertise to deliver a superior motion control solution across diverse applications.

The PCR 56/06 EC SD developer kit for BLDC control is fully compatible with Portescap’s BLDC motor range, ensuring seamless and rapid integration. It features a user-friendly Windows-based software suite with autotuning capabilities, significantly reducing setup times from days to hours. Additionally, the system includes C-based command sets for flexible and reusable programming, minimising engineering effort and fostering innovation. With a power supply of up to 56V and a continuous current capability of 5.5A, along with Hall sensor and encoder feedback options, the PCR 56/06 EC SD easily meets various application requirements.

A standout feature of this solution is the module-only option, which allows the controller to be mounted directly onto the application’s PCB. This facilitates a smooth transition from prototyping to series production, offering a cost-effective solution by leveraging initial development efforts.

Guillaume Mougin, Global Product Manager at Portescap, said: "This motion control solution addresses our customers’ need for faster development while offering a clear path from prototyping to full-scale production. By providing an integrated package tailored for our BLDC motors, we’re helping customers accelerate their innovation while ensuring compatibility and simplicity."

The PCR 56/06 EC SD is well-suited for a wide range of markets, including aerospace and robotics. Specific applications that will greatly benefit from this controller include bionics and exoskeleton systems, electric grippers and lab automation, seat and valve actuation and robots.

Carlos Bielicki, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Performance Motion Devices, said: “With this advanced motion control kit enabling immediate evaluation and development using Portescap’s BLDC motors with PMD’s ION/CME N-Series Digital Drive, customers now have a proven and optimised solution that minimisses risk and engineering time.”

This new offering underscores Portescap’s solutions are delivering a comprehensive suite of motion solutions that enhance productivity, simplify development and ensure a seamless customer experience. Designed to accelerate the development process, the PCR 56/06 EC SD provides an innovative motion control system and the necessary tools to transition from prototype to production with ease.
