QinetiQ supports Exercise Cutlass Fury 2025 with advanced target services

Organised by the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), the biennial exercise brought together forces from Canada, Denmark, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, to enhance anti-submarine warfare and air-maritime integration capabilities.
This year marks QinetiQ’s fourth consecutive participation in providing target support services for Cutlass Fury, continuing a partnership that began in 2019. For the latest exercise, QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) delivered a range of uncrewed systems, including 12 Vindicator Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle Targets (UAV-T) and six Hammerhead Uncrewed Surface Vehicle Targets (USV-T), with each RCN vessel carrying two targets to support CF25 operations and effectively simulate real-world threats for the participating naval forces.
John Le Blanc, Programme Manager, QinetiQ Target Systems, said: "We are pleased to work with the crew of HMCS Montreal to provide uncrewed aerial and surface targets for advanced multinational task group training. Complex naval exercises like Cutlass Fury ensure that Canada and our international allies have world-class sailors, aviators and soldiers ready for future challenges."
QinetiQ deployed a team of six personnel to operate the targets throughout the exercise. This year’s training included anti-air and surface gunnery exercises conducted in cooperation with other RCN ships.
Through its ongoing contract with the RCN, QinetiQ continues to expand its role in joint readiness operations by providing realistic training scenarios that enhance combat effectiveness and interoperability among allied navies.
