Team LionStrike delivers three vehicles for UK MoD LMV trials
Team LionStrike has delivered three vehicles for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) competition, including a new Battlefield Ambulance (BFA) developed by NP Aerospace and GM Defence.
The other two vehicles are a Tactical Mobility Vehicle (TMV), based on the GM Defence ISV-U, and a General Purpose Vehicle (GPV), adapted from the Chevrolet Silverado Light-Duty pickup.
The consortium, comprising NP Aerospace, GM Defence and BAE Systems, announced the deliveries on 5 November.
MoD competition moves towards trials
The MoD shortlisted seven bidders on 21 October for the LMV competition to replace the British Army’s Land Rover and Pinzgauer fleets. They include Team LionStrike; Team Grenadier; Babcock and Supacat; Ford and General Dynamics Land Systems UK; Rheinmetall and Mercedes-Benz; Jaguar Land Rover; and Iturri.
The MoD trials will assess and test contenders to determine which can meet the service’s operational requirements across the nine vehicle variants in the LMV tender, with vehicle deliveries anticipated from 2027.
The LMV programme represents one of the British Army’s largest land vehicle procurements in decades. The initial requirement is for approximately 3,000 vehicles, with potential demand exceeding 9,500.
New battlefield ambulance carries four casualties
The BFA uses the Chevrolet Silverado Heavy-Duty platform, which was introduced to the UK defence market in May 2026.

NP Aerospace and GM Defence designed and integrated the ambulance in the UK.
It has a payload exceeding 1,100kg and rear space for two seated casualties, two stretcher casualties and two medics, in addition to a two-person crew cab. It provides storage for medical supplies and equipment.
According to Team LionStrike, the Silverado HD’s payload and capacity simplify integrating medical equipment and support the ambulance’s operational requirements.
Two further variants delivered
Team LionStrike delivered two further variants for the LMV competition. The TMV is based on the GM Defence ISV-U, a version of the Infantry Squad Vehicle Utility platform supplied to the US military.

The GPV is a modified Chevrolet Silverado Light-Duty pickup. It retains substantial commonality with GM’s commercially produced vehicle, adapted and integrated in the UK for the MoD requirement.

Team LionStrike says its approach limits vehicle modifications and integration risk by using established platforms. NP Aerospace leads the UK programme and vehicle integration. GM Defence provides vehicle technology and original equipment manufacturer support. BAE Systems contributes defence programme and capability integration expertise.
“Delivering the three variants to the MoD is a major step for NP Aerospace as the prime contractor working alongside our Team LionStrike partners,” said David Petheram, Managing Director and Senior Vice President, NP Aerospace Vehicle Systems, Services and Spares.
“The development of the new BFA variant has been a live demonstration of how the customer benefits from having the OEM fully embedded into the team. The BFA design and integration is fully OEM-endorsed, increasing confidence, compliance, reliability and safety. And it’s all been done here in the UK.”
