Aerobility fundraiser to feature astronaut reserve John McFall and leading aviators
Three remarkable aviators will come together for ‘The Adventure of Flight’ at London’s Royal Geographical Society on 1 November. The event is in aid of aviation charity Aerobility, supporting people with disabilities to experience the magic of flight and participate in aviation-based activities.
The Adventure of Flight, organised with The Institute of British Geographers, will feature presentations from John McFall, former Paralympian, Astronaut Reserve and disabled pilot, Jon Hunt, former BBC reporter and host of the popular YouTube channel The Flying Reporter.
Also presenting will be John Romain MBE, an aircraft restorer, air display and movie pilot. Each will share their unique experiences from the world of aviation.
All profits from the event will be donated to Aerobility, helping the charity continue its work enabling people with disabilities to experience the magic and wonder of flight.
John McFall: Opportunity, determination and changing lives
John McFall will highlight the experiences and opportunities that have shaped his remarkable journey.

John will reflect on the importance of opportunity and how access, support and self-belief can open doors, challenge perceptions and change lives.
Drawing on his own experience of learning to fly with aviation charity Aerobility, John will highlight the importance of the charity’s work in making aviation accessible to people with disabilities.
Jon Hunt: Crossing the Atlantic in a single engine aircraft
Jon Hunt, will reveal the highs and lows of his 2026 North Atlantic flight.
In Spring 2026, Jon set off on in his 1977 single engine Piper PA28 on an extraordinary adventure, navigating the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and Canada before reaching the world famous EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event in Wisconsin. Jon will share personal insights, challenges and the decisions he faced along the way.

Jon said: “This talk is about taking people inside real-world flying, not just the theory but the decisions, pressures and judgement calls that come with operating a small aircraft on long-distance flights.
“In true Flying Reporter style, I’ll admit the mistakes I made, the moments I regretted and share unseen footage – including my arrival in Florida around a thunderstorm and a difficult icing encounter 200 miles over the ocean when out of range from ATC.”
John Romain MBE: Behind the scenes in Hollywood
John Romain MBE will share rare insight into working behind the scenes on one of Hollywood’s most spectacular aviation productions – Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible Final Reckoning. John will talk audiences through the three-year project that helped bring the film’s spectacular aviation sequences to life.
He will reveal the practical challenges involved, from aircraft capabilities and safety to logistics, planning and the human factors behind the decisions that shaped the project.
How the event will support Aerobility in reaching people with disabilities
Whether you are a pilot, an aviation enthusiast, an aspiring aviator, or simply fascinated by extraordinary human achievement, The Adventure of Flight offers a unique opportunity to hear from three exceptional individuals whose experiences demonstrate how aviation can be an incredible tool for changing people’s lives.
Mike Miller-Smith, CEO of Aerobility, said: “The Adventure of Flight promises to be a fascinating afternoon, bringing together three very different aviation stories to inspire and excite the audience.
“We’re extremely grateful that profits from this event will support Aerobility, helping us continue our work. Every ticket sold will enable us to reach more people with disabilities, providing them with opportunities to experience the magic of flight, challenge perceptions and discover possibilities that they may never have imagined.”
The Adventure of Flight takes place 2:30pm-5:00pm on 1st November 2026 at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
