Cambridge Pixel expands radar options with Garmin integration

Support for Garmin's Fantom and GMR xHD marine radars gives maritime developers and systems integrators greater flexibility when selecting sensors for new projects.

Cambridge Pixel has expanded radar choice for maritime developers and systems integrators by adding support for Garmin’s Fantom and GMR xHD marine radars.

The new compatibility enables users to integrate Garmin sensors into systems powered by the company’s radar processing and tracking software. This includes SPx Server, which can generate high-quality tracks from radar video data.

Maritime projects vary considerably in their operational requirements, installation constraints and budgets. Support for multiple radar manufacturers lets developers and integrators select equipment suited to each project while maintaining a consistent software development approach.

Extending the range of radar interfaces for greater flexibility on sensor integration

Developers of technologies such as autonomous and Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) using Cambridge Pixel software can now choose supported Garmin marine radars to incorporate into their system designs, with connectivity provided through the GSI 10 gateway.

Commenting on the expanded support, Cambridge Pixel’s Principal Engineer, Andrew Haylett, said: “We are pleased to add Garmin, a well-known and trusted brand, to our list of supported radar manufacturers. Our customers now have even greater flexibility in choosing sensors for their projects.”

The extended range of radar interfaces forms part of Cambridge Pixel’s wider offering of software for radar processing, target tracking, sensor integration and operator displays.

Customers considering Garmin Fantom or GMR xHD maritime radars for a project can contact Cambridge Pixel to discuss software and integration requirements.
