Eaton upgrades HSIM fuel transfer pump to support A380 operators
Intelligent power management company Eaton has enhanced its A380 capabilities portfolio with the latest High Slip Induction Motor (HSIM) fuel transfer pump upgrade.
Built on Eaton’s induction motor technology used across numerous commercial aircraft applications, the next generation pump is designed to improve reliability and reduce pump weight, with the aim of helping operators reduce fuel consumption and lifecycle operating costs and support long-term aircraft availability.
As Airbus A380 operators continue to extend the service life of their fleets to meet growing demand on high-capacity routes, Eaton is reaffirming its long-term support for the world’s largest passenger aircraft through continued investment in innovative aftermarket solutions. As the A380 continues operating globally for nearly two decades, Eaton’s new pump upgrade reinforces the long-term strategy to provide dependable aftermarket support for operators for years to come.
How investment in engineering support for the A380 will ensure future flight efficiency

Matt Norman (above), vice president of aftermarket and commercial services for Eaton’s Aerospace Group, said: “The A380 remains a vital asset for many of the world’s leading airlines and we recognise the importance of providing operators with the products, services and engineering support needed to keep these aircraft flying efficiently for the long term.
“The HSIM fuel transfer pump is a clear example of Eaton’s commitment to investing in the future of the A380 fleet and delivering solutions that address the evolving needs of operators.”
The development of the HSIM fuel transfer pump illustrates Eaton’s broader capability to modernise and sustain aerospace systems throughout their operational life. Drawing on more than 100 years of aerospace innovation and engineering expertise, the successful development of the HSIM fuel transfer pump demonstrates Eaton’s ability to leverage proven technologies and apply them to new and existing aircraft platforms, extending product lifecycles and improving long-term fleet supportability for operators.
