AURELIUS, a global private equity investor widely recognised for its operational approach, has completed the acquisition of British aerospace and defence specialist Marshall Aerospace.

Marshall Aerospace’s story spans more than a century. From its establishment in Cambridge in 1909 and opening its first airfield in 1929, repairing and modifying over 5,000 aircraft during WWII, to its long association with the C-130 Hercules since the 1960s and designing Concorde’s iconic nose, it has built on that heritage to support the next generation of aerospace programmes.

Bob Baxter, CEO, Marshall Aerospace, said: “This change of ownership is an important new chapter for Marshall Aerospace as an independent mid-tier British aerospace and defence company.

“In AURELIUS, we have found an owner that recognises the strength of our capabilities and the importance of the work we are delivering for our customers. Just as importantly, they have the expertise and resources to back our next phase of growth and capitalise on emerging opportunities as the defence industry continues to transform.”

How the acquisition is set to help build on Marshall Aerospace’s current capabilities and open new opportunities

The company stressed that the acquisition serves to combine Marshall Aerospace’s highly regarded capabilities, experienced workforce and strong programme delivery with AURELIUS’ strategic and operational expertise and long-term investment approach, providing a strong platform for the company’s next phase of growth and creating new opportunities to contribute to defence programmes of vital importance to the UK and its allies.

Marshall Aerospace is a specialist in military maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), applied aerospace engineering and multi-domain advanced manufacturing.

The company supports global operators ranging from the Royal Norwegian Air Force to the United States Marine Corps, while serving as a trusted partner to OEMs including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Thales.

Recent major contracts awarded to Marshall Aerospace include a multi-year agreement covering entry into service and sustainment for 12 C-130J aircraft acquired by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence and a 14 year contract from Thales to produce sonar modules for the UK’s Royal Navy.

The acquisition was completed on 8th October 2026.
