This marks a significant step forward in delivering AGS Reimagined, the airports long‑term project and vision to create modern, sustainable and passenger‑centred airports across Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton.

Following a competitive procurement process, WSP has been selected as the lead development designer for Southampton Airport, while WSP together with Pascall + Watson Architects will lead design for the transformation of Glasgow Airport.

The design phase will shape the future layout, flow and passenger experience at both airports, ensuring they meet the growing needs of customers, airline partners and their regions.

For Southampton, WSP will provide full architectural and engineering design services across all key elements, including structural, fire safety and ventilation.

For Glasgow, WSP and Pascall + Watson Architects will jointly lead the terminal design transformation, a central investment priority within the group’s £350 million capital programme.

Kam Jandu, Chief Executive of AGS Airports, said: “These appointments represent an important milestone in the delivery of AGS Reimagined.

“WSP and Pascall + Watson bring world‑class capability and deep experience of designing modern airport environments, and their expertise will help us create facilities that are more intuitive, efficient and enjoyable for our passengers.

“With our £350 million investment now being put to work, we are moving at pace to deliver transformational change across our airports. This is a major step in shaping the next chapter of Glasgow and Southampton, ensuring they are future ready and reflective of the regions they serve focussing on great sense of place.”

Mark Wolfe, Aviation Sector Lead, WSP commented: “We’re delighted to be partnering with AGS Airports on the next stage of AGS Reimagined at Glasgow and Southampton. Drawing on our multidisciplinary design, building services and systems expertise – and collaborating closely with Pascall + Watson – we’ll create intuitive, resilient terminal environments that improve passenger flow and experience while supporting low‑carbon goals. With our teams embedded locally, we’re excited to help shape facilities that authentically reflect and serve their regions.”

The design phase marks another major advance in AGS’ wider transformation programme, underpinned by an investment of £350 million, the largest capital commitment to AGS since its formation in 2014.

The programme will:

  • modernise the main terminal at Glasgow Airport
  • upgrade Southampton’s terminal facilities
  • transform retail at Aberdeen
  • improve airfield infrastructure at all three airports
  • accelerate AGS’ ambition to achieve net zero direct emissions by 2035

These improvements sit at the heart of AGS Reimagined, the group’s strategic identity that aims to bring together modern design, sustainability and regional expertise to develop these airports for the benefit of all stakeholders.
