Serco Defence UK appoints Mike Paterson as Maritime Services Director

The appointment is part of Serco Defence UK's plans to grow and develop its Maritime portfolio.

Serco Defence UK has appointed Mike Paterson as Maritime Service Director, who is taking up his new role this month.

Mike brings a wealth of leadership, operational and transformation experience spanning more than three decades across the maritime, transport and defence sectors.

Military career

Mike began his career in the Royal Navy, serving for 27 years in a range of senior leadership roles. Following his military career, Mike moved into senior executive positions in the transport sector, holding board-level roles with Arriva Rail North and Govia Thameslink Railway/Network Rail.

Most recently, he has been Managing Director of Svitzer Marine Ltd and Svitzer Terminals.

Doug Umbers, Managing Director of Serco Defence UK said: “Mike’s combination of maritime expertise, strategic leadership, commercial acumen and defence experience makes him an outstanding addition to our team at an exciting time for the business.

“We have ambitious plans for our Maritime portfolio and I am pleased that we have been able to secure someone of Mike’s calibre to help lead the next stage of our growth and development.”
