Serco’s NadirEO to provide operational insights from Earth Observation data

The new NadirEO platform turns Earth Observation data into operational insight, bringing together multiple data sources, analytics and specialist partners to help organisations assess risk, monitor assets and make evidence-based decisions.

Earth Observation data is becoming increasingly important for organisations managing climate risk, critical infrastructure and environmental compliance. To help organisations turn complex geospatial data into practical operational insight, Serco has launched NadirEO, an innovative and collaborative Earth Observation platform.

Drawing on more than 40 years of experience supporting European space programmes, NadirEO brings together Earth Observation data, analytical services and specialist expertise within a single environment, helping organisations move more quickly from data to decision-making.

NadirEO combines satellite, aerial, drone and ground-sensor data with other geolocated information, including open data and existing organisational datasets. It brings these sources together with analytical services and specialist expertise in a single platform, giving users access to ready-to-use analysis rather than standalone imagery or computing capacity.

How actionable insights can be accessed through a single interface

NadirEO launches with 18 Earth Observation services available through a growing ecosystem of specialist partners, including Geoskop, Titan4 and Gisky. The platform enables organisations to access ready-to-use solutions for climate and geological risk assessment, wildfire monitoring, critical infrastructure monitoring and renewable energy asset management, without requiring specialist Earth Observation expertise.

Initially focused on the energy, insurance, infrastructure and agriculture sectors, NadirEO allows users to obtain actionable insights from complex geospatial data through a simple and accessible interface. Additional services and partners will continue to be added as the ecosystem expands.

Potential applications include assessing flood exposure across a portfolio of sites, identifying vegetation encroachment near power lines, monitoring changes around transport or utility networks and evaluating wildfire risk.

Why usable and traceable analysis will deliver comprehensive and resilient data

The platform harmonises information from public satellite missions, commercial providers, airborne systems, Internet of Things sensors and partner datasets into a consistent data foundation. Its processing environment includes secure storage, automation and analytical tools, with artificial intelligence used to support pattern recognition, anomaly detection and plain-language navigation.

Each result includes information on the data sources used, when they were acquired and how they were processed. This audit trail is intended to support decisions that may need to withstand regulatory, insurance, audit or governance scrutiny.

Roberto Mulatti, Serco’s Space Managing Director for Europe, said: “Earth Observation can provide valuable insight but using it effectively often requires specialist expertise and access to fragmented data and technology. NadirEO brings these elements together so that customers can focus on the decisions they need to make. It draws on Serco’s long-standing experience in European space programmes and on the capabilities of a wider partner ecosystem.”

NadirEO also helps technology providers and analytics specialists reach new customers through the platform and deliver their solutions to the market faster.
