Advanced Engineering UK gains support from SAE International
SAE International, a global association made up of more than 137,000 engineers and technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries, will be hosting its own co-locating technology symposium in a separate location within the NEC, Birmingham. It will also run four expert speaker sessions as part of Advanced Engineering’s free-to-attend open conference programme, located on the exhibition show floor itself.
SAE International’s Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Technologies Symposium will detail how to integrate design, manufacturing and final assembly of augmented and virtual technologies into the digital thread of organisations. The highly practical symposium will also look at how to show an economic value proposition for using AR/VR within any advanced manufacturing enterprise, plus it will examine the future outlook of AR/VR for the mobility industry. Speakers from international names, including Boeing, Ford Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover and Airbus, will be sharing their insights and experiences of AR/VR being utilised in an array of industries.
SAE International will also form part of the Advanced Engineering UK’s Open Conference programme, which is billed as the UK’s largest ‘free to attend’ engineering seminar programme. The Open Conference will provide attendees with an invaluable blend of expert insight covering the latest innovations, technologies and applications across the entire engineering spectrum. The two day programme will also contain critical industry updates, collaborative initiatives and contributions from pivotal organisations that are active in developing the infrastructure of the advanced engineering sector. SAE experts in particular will discuss ‘The Digital Thread’, ‘Connectivity’, ‘Cybersecurity’ and ‘Integrated Vehicle Health Management and Maintenance Credits’ during their seminar sessions.
Andrew Smart, Director, Society and Industry Programs at SAE International, discusses the new relationship for 2015: “SAE International is thrilled to be so deeply involved with Advanced Engineering UK 2015, and particularly excited about running our Symposium this year. We will be welcoming some of the biggest names from across the engineering world to share their insight and unique views of the industry that we live in. I don’t think there is any doubt that the whole two days is going to be a fascinating mix of innovation, technology and engineering.”
Katie Crocombe, Advanced Engineering Event Director, comments: "It is so exciting to welcome SAE International’s involvement with the show. They have particularly deep roots within aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle engineering, and continue to be one of the most important and influential industry bodies behind the development of engineering standards, training, and the dissemination of new innovations - reflecting extremely well the remit of Advanced Engineering UK.”
Advanced Engineering UK 2015 integrates multiple show exhibit zones with the UK’s largest free-to-attend engineering conference programme. The show spans key sectors including aerospace, automotive, motorsport, marine, civil engineering, and more. It also includes over 750 exhibitors and more than 175 speakers, with sessions from six purpose built auditoriums at the show. Advanced Engineering UK features four ‘shows within a show’ – Automotive Engineering Show, Aero Engineering Show, Composites Engineering Show and Performance Metals Engineering.
