Aeromet signs first A20X licensee

Aeromet International PLC has announced the signing of their first A20X licensee.

O’Fallon Casting LLC, based in O’Fallon, Missouri, is a leading non-ferrous investment casting house supplying premium quality castings into the North American marketplace.

The two Parties signed a non-exclusive Licence Agreement during June which enables O’Fallon to supply castings in A20X (AA 205 to AMS4471A) on a worldwide basis.

A20X is an exciting new aluminium copper casting alloy developed by Aeromet International PLC with significantly higher mechanical properties and a unique micro-structure, when compared with currently available alternative aluminium alloys. Further, the cast properties of A20X are similar to some aluminium wrought materials.

The Aluminium Association has designated A20X as AA 205 and the SAE have granted AMS4471 specification for investment castings and AMS4482 specification for sand castings. The FAA has entered AA 205 into the latest edition of the MMPDS handbook.

Alan Dustan, Commercial Director of Aeromet International PLC, has commented: “We are very pleased that O’Fallon Casting have signed the first licence agreement for our exciting new alloy. O’Fallon is well placed to take full advantage of all the benefits that the alloy can offer and we look forward to working with the O’Fallon Team.“

Bruce Willson, Sales Manager of O’Fallon Casting, said: “We were very impressed with the mechanical properties we achieved from the castings produced at O’Fallon, which will enable us to compete both in the high property casting environment and also potentially against wrought materials.“

Aeromet International PLC is a UK based foundry group with 3 foundries, one in Worcester and two in Kent, producing non-ferrous investment castings in aluminium and sand castings in aluminium and magnesium. Aeromet supply high quality, precision castings into the aerospace and defence market sectors.
