This follows the recent unveiling of Babcock’s impact beyond the balance sheet within the UK, through its Delivering the Defence Dividend Report  which highlighted:

  • £550 million invested in 3,800 UK Small to Medium sized Enterprises
  • The company’s largest annual early careers intake of c.900 this year, developing vital nuclear skills through regional hubs and engaging 82,000 pupils through STEM activity (1 in 130 UK pupils)
  • Plans to recruit 1,000 new Production Support Operatives – an award-winning employment initiative
  • 105 full time equivalent Babcock volunteers and £1m + charitable donations
  • The UK’s joint largest defence employer of veterans and the largest defence employer of military reservists (500 +)
  • The introduction of a free employee share scheme

This new outreach programme will see senior representatives from across the business boarding the bus and talking with colleagues about further career opportunities, health and wellbeing, the company’s commitment to sustainability, and bringing into focus the rewarding roles available for anyone contemplating a new career with Babcock.

The launch comes as graduates and apprentices from across the business showcased the company’s commitment to careers at the Next Gen Skills Takeover Day at DSEI UK 25, the global defence industry event in London.

The company continues to transform thousands of lives and businesses and connect talent as part of its growing economic and social blueprint across the UK as the second largest supplier to the Ministry of Defence.

The technology enabled bus, a moving hub of ideas, innovation and collaboration, will see Babcock apprentices, graduates, time-served tradespeople and other colleagues’ step aboard, sharing their voice as part of the company’s journey in the communities where it operates.

Putting the tour into gear at its London HQ, Babcock CEO David Lockwood said:  “Reaching out to colleagues within the communities they work in is really important and this roadshow gives us a fantastic opportunity to do this in a different way.

Our people are hugely proud of what we collectively contribute to the safety and security of the UK and we are encouraging others to find out more about opportunities to join Babcock as we travel the country.

“As well as delivering critical support to the UK’s Armed Forces, we create jobs, support local businesses and contribute to the wellbeing of the communities that we’re proudly part of.”
