Surface coating specialist Anotec has enhanced its position in the aerospace and defence sectors by achieving the AS9100 certification.
Walsall based Anotec, part of the Anochrome Group, secured the certification after completing rigorous audit process carried out by Auva Certification Limited.
Based on ISO 9001, AS9100 adds over 100 additional requirements tailored to the unique demands of aerospace, ensuring the highest levels of traceability, risk management and product integrity.
This certification will allow Anotec to deliver more of its industry-leading solutions to manufacturers and tier suppliers within aerospace and defence, helping to keep aircraft safe, efficient and reliable.
Steve Norman, Commercial Director at the Anochrome Group, said: “This certification marks a significant moment for Anotec as we increase our presence and involvement in the aerospace and defence sectors.
“AS9100 is a mandatory requirement for almost all major aerospace and Tier 1 suppliers. Increasing our presence in aerospace and defence is a key strategic goal for 2026 and this will help us to achieve that.”
The audit focused on counterfeit part prevention, product safety, traceability and configuration management.
Anotec will now be listed in the IAQG OASIS database, giving Anotec worldwide visibility to aerospace buyers looking for verified suppliers.
The aerospace and defence sectors demand coatings and surface treatments that perform in the harshest environments, including at altitude, in extreme temperatures and under constant vibration.
Across the six companies within the group, Anochrome utilises a variety of processes and techniques to apply industry-leading coatings, sealants and thread locking systems that deliver ultimate protection under pressure. These include hard anodizing, passivation and zinc flake hand spray processes.
The AS9100 certification comes just months after Anotec was welcomed onto the JOSCAR accredited scheme, which centralises supplier pre-qualification and compliance data in aerospace and defence.
Steve added: “We see huge growth potential in aerospace and defence and look forward to sharing our knowledge and expertise with OEMs and tier suppliers.”
Anotec uses manual, automatic and robotic techniques to produce high-quality spray coatings, hard anodising and aluminium passivation, thermal diffusion and electromagnetic compatibility coatings (EMC) for several industry sectors including aerospace and defence.
