The appointment supports the acceleration of Asia’s Energy Transformation as the international consultancy enters a new phase of growth.  In a series of milestone appointments announced this month, BMT Asia will be unveiling its new approach ‘consultancy and engineering services for critical infrastructure’ - driven by a focus on Energy Transition for a sustainable future

BMT expanded its presence in Asia as a route to growth and in response to increasing demand for consultancy services in both niche areas and mainstream sectors. The consolidation of regional offices across the region supports this expansion due to faster macroeconomic growth, stronger balance sheets and scalable operations. Shiva brings nearly 26-years of project development and investment support. As well as technical, investment and strategic management consulting experience across an array of sectors, covering market demand, logistics, feasibility, front end engineering, construction and commissioning aspects of complex projects across the offshore, onshore, ports and energy domains.

Commenting on the news, Suba Sivandran, Managing Director, Asia said: “We are delighted that Shiva has been appointed to our growing team. He has considerable practical experience of leading projects from feasibility to reality and has also led and supported on highly complex technical consulting assignments, ranging from Energy (LNG, oil & renewables) & Coastal Infrastructure project  investment support on capital projects, expert witness and accident investigation. His appointment reinforces our commitment to both players in Asia’s market and global assignments."

Suba added: “It is an exciting time for Shiva to be joining the team at BMT Asia. After consolidating offices across the region, we are all set up now as a diverse team led by skilled consultants to help grow the consultancy’s reach. We are exceptionally well-placed to assist existing and new clients with a blend of market-leading expertise and practical support.”

“Catalysed by the COVID pandemic, the transition towards clean energy is accelerating with the impact being felt on all aspects of critical infrastructure. Consultants need to provide relevant and timely solutions for clients to meet their environment commitments like time bound carbon neutrality goals. This requires not only understanding the big picture of the transition but also crafting certainty in pathways to ensure timely ground implementation. It is heartening to note that the team now has positioned itself to quickly learn from experiences and adapt to new conditions – BMT Asia’s nimbleness allows us to react, unlock value and deliver to this.”

Commenting on his appointment, Shiva says that he is “thrilled” about this new role and joining an enthusiastic team to drive both personal and business growth. He further adds “The pandemic, while unprecedented, offers opportunities for mission minded teams to work with stakeholders towards a sustainable future. BMT has a long, successful track record across the region in delivering value and outcomes to its clients. I am excited to join the team and further develop our presence in the region by working with diverse customers to deliver innovative solutions across a whole host of sectors. In addition, I am looking forward to working towards a sustainable future not only from a business perspective but also as a commitment towards future generations in our shared planet.”

The Asia office is leading acceleration of the consultancy’s critical infrastructure portfolios of port development, investment, renewable energy and risk due diligence services in order to realise its overall goal of providing a top-tier consulting, engineering, investment and technical advisory service to multiple sectors and delivering long-term value for our customers.

Shiva is a Chemical Engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India. He is a PMI certified Project Management Professional and a recipient of an executive MBA in Finance from the Singapore campus of SP Jain’s School of Global Management.
