Bombardier and Lufthansa Technik unveil nice Touch CMS on Global 7000

Bombardier today unveiled a preview of the revolutionary nice Touch cabin management system, a Bombardier-designed platform developed in collaboration with Lufthansa Technik and found exclusively on the Global 7000 aircraft.

The nice Touch CMS will be on display at the 2018 European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Geneva. The new system brings cabin connectivity to the next level with two new layers of interaction, creating a multifaceted solution that combines physical and digital interfaces to ensure effortless control of the cabin environment and entertainment.

For ultimate cabin efficiency and enjoyment, the nice Touch CMS introduces a new way to connect with the cabin through the Bombardier Touch dial, featuring business aviation’s first application of an OLED display. Always within reach from the comfort of the passenger’s seat, it discreetly rises from the side ledge with the touch of a finger to provide rapid control of entertainment and cabin settings.

The Global 7000 aircraft also introduces Suite controllers throughout the aircraft’s full-sized living spaces, a first in the industry. These unique bulkhead-mounted interfaces allow for intuitive and home-like control of the cabin environment.

“The Global 7000 jet’s nice Touch CMS sets a new standard in the industry by further elevating the cabin experience,” said Brad Nolen, Vice President, Marketing and Product Strategy, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Bombardier is renowned in the industry for its impeccable design and leading-edge technology – and the Global 7000 aircraft’s nice Touch CMS perfectly combines those two elements to bring ultimate comfort and effortless control to the customer’s fingertips.”

The Touch dial and Suite controllers are complemented by the nice Touch application, available on iOS and Android devices. The application's content aggregator provides easy access to all media. Its curated selection of preset lighting schemes offers limitless custom color combinations for cabin ambiance.

“With a 10-gigabit fibre-optic architecture and dual wireless access points for redundancy, the nice Touch CMS provides an easy and reliable way to control all cabin functions so that passengers can easily transition between productivity and relaxation,” said Andrew Muirhead, Vice President, Product Division Original Equipment Innovation, Lufthansa Technik. “Lufthansa Technik is a long-time partner of Bombardier, and we are thrilled to bring our knowledge and expertise in building innovative CMS and in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems to the highly anticipated Global 7000 aircraft.”

The nice Touch CMS delivers available 4K, ultra-high-definition content at very high speeds. The Global 7000 jet also has two media centres that provide on-demand audio and video to any suite in the cabin, and various floorplan configurations that offer large cabin monitors. Combined with Ka-band – the fastest internet connectivity worldwide – the nice Touch CMS allows passengers to effortlessly surf, stream, watch and listen to the content they want as if they were at home.

With a maximum operating range of 7,700 nautical miles, the Global 7000 aircraft can fly farther than any other business jet and is the only business aircraft that can connect New York and Hong Kong, and Singapore to Los Angeles.

The Global 7000 jet’s innovative design was recently awarded the prestigious Red Dot at the 2018 Red Dot Award: Product Design.
