A BQF-certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with nearly 30 years of experience, Glenn (above) has worked extensively across aerospace, electronics, automotive, medical devices, complex manufacturing and highly regulated industries. His arrival reinforces Bourton Group’s ability to help organisations boost productivity, reduce cost, strengthen design reliability and embed sustainable internal capability.

Glenn’s first assignment with Bourton Group sees him working with Rolls-Royce, where Bourton has maintained a strong delivery relationship for more than 15 years across multiple engineering, operational excellence and capability development programmes.

His current focus is on equipping engineering teams to ensure reliability in complex, high-performing platforms - a critical methodology that helps organisations design products that perform reliably under real-world variation. Robust Design has become increasingly important for aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers seeking to control cost, avoid late-stage redesign, improve reliability and accelerate industrialisation.

Glenn joins Bourton at a time when UK defence and aerospace manufacturers face a number of urgent operational and production challenges, including:

  • Insufficient surge capacity
  • Dependency on imported components
  • Rising cost pressures and engineering capability shortages

Bourton Group has supported major defence and aerospace organisations - including OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, engineering groups, advanced manufacturers and support service providers by helping them to improve operational performance, strengthen reliability, enhance supply chain capability and build Lean and Six Sigma maturity.

Ken Powell, Managing Partner at Bourton Group LLP, said: “Glenn’s appointment reflects our continued investment in strengthening our Defence and aerospace capability.

"His extensive background in highly regulated, precision manufacturing environments—combined with his Lean, Six Sigma and Robust Design expertise, allows us to support clients tackling some of the sector’s most pressing operational challenges. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Bourton Group partners with organisations across the UK Defence and Aerospace sector to help them:

  • Increase throughput and reduce cycle time
  • Improve first-time quality and reduce rework/scrap
  • Strengthening engineering capability in DFSS, Robust Design and APQP
  • Build internal CI and OE capability at scale
  • Streamline supply chain processes and reduce variation
  • Prepare for growth, major programmes and heightened regulatory demands

With Glenn’s appointment, Bourton is looking to continue expanding its ability to deliver measurable, sustainable improvements for organisations operating in demanding engineering environments.

Bourton Group is a UK-based management consultancy specialising in operational improvement, Lean Six Sigma, organisation development, leadership capability and large-scale change programmes. It supports organisations in aerospace, defence, infrastructure, manufacturing, housing, energy and public services to improve performance, capability and culture.
