British Indoor Ski Champions take flight with Jet2.com
Ashley Breese (16) from Worcestershire and Megan Jenkins (14) from Norwich were each presented with ski flights after being crowned fastest male and fastest female respectively in slalom and giant slalom. The race, held at Xscape’s SNO!zone at Castleford, is the highlight of the indoor ski race calendar and had close to 100 of the UK’s best ski talent from the length and breadth of the British Isles.

Ashley Breese (16) from Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, said: “I have been skiing since I was four, and have been racing since I was six! Whilst I’ve won my age category before, this year is the first time I have won the overall competition. I was really pleased with my race times and coming first to win the Jet2.com flights is the highlight of my ski performance to date. I’ll be taking part in the English Indoor Championships later this year so I’m hoping to repeat my form then. I can’t wait to hit the slopes in Austria which is where I am planning to fly to as part of my prize.”

Yorkshire-based Lions Ski Club have organised the British Indoor Ski Championships annually since 2004. The competition aims to seek and celebrate the best in young ski talent. As a key sponsor, Jet2.com donated the prizes for the overall winners to enable the promising young skiers to train in the Alps this coming ski season.
Steve Heapy, Chief Commercial Officer of Jet2.com, said: “As a ski friendly airline we are thrilled to support the British Indoor Ski Championships, a great event which helps unearth the ski talent of the future. Our congratulations go to Ashley and Megan who did brilliantly to beat off the competition in what was a very challenging line up of competitors.
“We carry hundred of thousands of skiers and boarders to the Alps each year through Chambery, Geneva, Salzburg and our new ski destination for 2012/13, Grenoble. Our customers come back year after year citing our generous 22kg baggage allowance and our morning flight times which enable them to hit the slopes the day they arrive, as the reasons. We wanted to put something back into the sport by supporting this event and rewarding the winners for their dedication to the sport.”
Graham and Cathy Beck, organisers of the British Indoor Ski Championships, said: “We were delighted to have the support of Jet2.com for the event, there was such a high standard this year so it is fitting to have great prizes. The winners were delighted to win the flights.”
