As the defence landscape continues to evolve at pace, technological advances are reshaping mission requirements and placing increasing demands on deployed computing systems. The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge, growing volumes of data and the critical importance of security and sovereignty are converging to drive a new era of performance expectations. Now more than ever, defence programmes require solutions that combine advanced processing capabilities with uncompromising ruggedness, reliability and protection against cyber threats.

With a proven track record of engineering solutions to exact project specifications and the highest industry standards, Captec has expanded its rugged portfolio to meet the demands of today’s high-performance and security-conscious applications.

Captec’s latest innovations include the launch of its Secure Encrypted Server (SES) range, with SES-120 and SES-110 models incorporating Viasat’s DARC-ssd 600 drives, an NCSC CAPS-evaluated technology, to safeguard official, secret and top-secret information in enterprise and tactical environments, such as data stored in vehicles, aircraft and ships. Alongside this, the company is introducing Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) capabilities for rugged environments – a breakthrough enabling defence systems to handle increased thermal loads driven by high-performance computing and Edge AI applications.

Unlike traditional air-cooled systems, Captec’s DLC technology allows CPUs and GPUs to maintain consistent, optimal operating temperatures during extended turbo or boosted operation. This eliminates performance throttling, unlocks sustained high-frequency performance and ensures readiness for workload scaling as mission complexity grows. The result is not only improved processing capability and flexibility, but also enhanced component longevity, reduced power consumption, and lower system downtime – all delivering strong return on investment over the system’s lifecycle.
