Chevron to establish maintenance facility headquarters at Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Chevron has signed a 10 year lease with Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Chevron will move in to set up a Maintenance facility in November 2016 and it will be ready to receive aircrafts from January 2017.
The existing facilities within Glasgow Prestwick Airport will provide a large, bespoke space for Chevron’s increased line maintenance support operations.
Chevron will be establishing a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangar facility, bespoke teardown / parts processing facility, aircraft parking area and management offices totalling 150,000 square feet.
Chevron tested out the airport earlier this year welcoming a B757-200 aircraft from a major European airline.
Managing Director of Chevron Aircraft Maintenance, Mr Neil Morris, said: “Chevron Group has embarked upon a 2 year project visiting facilities with similar prospects all over the world. Capable of accommodating wide body aircraft up to B747 size, Glasgow Prestwick Airport was finally approved as the preferred site for the future development of our new MRO facility. The airport offered many key attributes, such as 24/7 365 days operational access, underpinned by a tried and tested infrastructure.
“It was great to have the opportunity to test these facilities and we were very impressed by the professionalism of the people at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, who proved to be a forward thinking group, capable of making decisive and progressive decisions. We look forward to working with the airport team as our long term partners”
Neil Morris added: “The airport is in an excellent location at the midway point of the Great Circle Route making it a convenient stop off point for the many aircraft that have existing flight planning over the airport. The facility will enable the Chevron Group to handle a large range of aircraft and we hope that we can offer additional benefits to Glasgow Prestwick’s existing customer base across passenger, cargo, military, executive and general aviation including training through providing them with MRO and supporting services.
“Over the coming months we will work closely with the airport team to promote the facility, beginning by exhibiting the new capability at the upcoming MRO Europe Amsterdam Conference –raising industry awareness of this new MRO capability encouraging many more aircraft operators and owners to the regional cluster of Aerospace activity.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport Chief Executive Officer, Ron Smith, said: “The newly formed leadership team at the airport is delighted to welcome Chevron to Glasgow Prestwick Airport and the wider Prestwick Aerospace campus. This is the first major new business that this team has secured and we see this as a building block on the way to delivering a profitable and sustainable airport for the long term.
“Chevron will bring in additional revenue for us through this lease but we also hope that this will provide us with an additional selling point for passenger and cargo airlines and other aviation customers including executive, military and general aviation to operate services to and from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Chevron currently has a sister MRO facility at Cotswolds Airport aircraft with existing long term contracts for base line maintenance and storage. Soon they will see the arrival of both new Airbus and Boeing aircrafts and have performed 4 aircraft decommissioning processes at the airport in 2015, supported by several major C-Check operations for 3rd Party operators.
Chevron Aircraft Maintenance are approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for EASA Part 145 Base/line maintenance, Chevron currently operates from its HQ in Manchester and operates support services in Amsterdam, Ibiza and Glasgow Prestwick as well as other locations worldwide
