Cobham appoints new exec Rob Mullins

Cobham has named Robert (Rob) Mullins as its new executive vice president, corporate strategy and mergers & acquisition, replacing David Johnston, who has decided to leave the company.

Rob (right) will report directly to Cobham plc chief executive officer, Bob Murphy, and be based initially at the Group’s Corporate North America office in Arlington, Virginia, USA.

Prior to joining Cobham, Mr. Mullins held the position of senior vice president, corporate strategy for Alliant Techsystems (ATK), an aerospace, defence and commercial products company with annual revenues of approximately $4.3 billion. In this capacity, he co-chaired the company’s Corporate Leadership Council, led the development and execution of the company’s merger and acquisition strategy, and implemented the annual strategic planning process to include market and competitive analysis.

From 2002 to 2010, Mr. Mullins was employed by Northrop Grumman Corporation, serving in a number of executive positions. In his last assignment, he was vice president of operations, strategy and development for Northrop’s ISR Systems Division. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, he was a member of the permanent research staff at The RAND Corporation.

Mr. Mullins is an honours graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government. He also holds a PhD in War Studies from King’s College, University of London, as well as a Master of Public & International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
