CTC and Qatar Airways recruiting aspiring pilots

CTC Aviation announced today that Qatar Airways has chosen the airline training organisation to select and train the airline's future pilots through a new Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training programme open to international applicants.

'Qatar Wings’ provides an opportunity for six trainees to begin their initial flight training with CTC every two months for the foreseeable future.

Courses will originate at CTC’s Crew Training Centres in Hamilton and Southampton, UK, whilst all initial flight training will take place at CTC’s New Zealand training facilities.

All 'Qatar Wings' cadet pilots will go on to complete their basic and intermediate training on CTC’s Airbus flight simulators in Southhampton, UK.

Qatar Airways will provide a conditional offer of employment to successful applicants prior to training commencement and deliver the final stages of training and Line Operating Experience (LOE) at its home base in Doha, Qatar.

Including the line operating experience phase, the programme takes approximately two years to complete. Those meeting the high standards expected by CTC and Qatar Airways will be offered employment as an A320 First Officer for Qatar Airways based in Doha.

CTC’s chief executive officer, Rob Clarke (right), said ‘Qatar Wings’ is a unique opportunity: “CTC is delighted to be in a position to announce this unique programme globally and start processing applications. It is rare that a Gulf airline offers international applicants the opportunity to partake in a cadet pilot programme – particularly an MPL programme.

“‘Qatar Wings’ is the culmination of three parties working effectively together – Qatar Airways, the Qatar CAA and CTC – and the opportunities on offer are second-to-none. Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines and – for the right applicant – the career progression path available is outstanding.

“The airline has demonstrated vision and a commitment to securing its future supply of pilots by offering this truly global programme. We look forward to a long-term partnership that will enable international talent to fulfil their dream of becoming a pilot for an established airline,” said Mr Clarke.

CTC is running its first New Zealand selection event at its Hamilton Crew Training Centre during June. Interested applicants can attend an information day on 22nd June and will get the opportunity to meet representatives from both Qatar Airways and CTC.

“Qatar Wings” is open year-round to applicants from around the globe. Applicants need no previous flying experience but will need to demonstrate motivation, aptitude and interpersonal skills to a very high standard.

Courses commence every two months and will originate at either of CTC’s Crew Training Centres in New Zealand or the United Kingdom.

CTC has a reputation as leader in the world of airline pilot training. The company is the preferred cadet pilot supplier for easyJet and recently launched the CTC-easyJet MPL cadet programme.

CTC also manages the British Airways Future Pilot Programme and selects and recruits for the Jetstar Group in Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and Singapore.
