CTC Aviation and easyJet launch Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme

CTC Aviation and easyJet have launched a first-of-its-kind pilot training programme to provide unrivalled career opportunities with easyJet.

In March 1995 CTC Aviation pilots were behind the controls of easyJet’s very first operational flights. The aircraft may have changed and the routes farther reaching, but this leading European airline continues to select CTC Aviation as their preferred supplier of pilots.

Earlier this month, CTC Aviation announced the re-opening of applications to the CTC WINGS Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) in partnership with easyJet. Since its launch in 2013, the programme has provided aspiring pilots the opportunity to join a full-time career programme, leading directly to a job as an easyJet co-pilot – no flying experience required.

Driven by the continued success of the MPL route, CTC Aviation and easyJet have partnered to deliver a new, innovative pilot training and placement initiative – the ‘Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme’, announced by the airline at CTC Aviation’s Airline Pilot Careers event last Saturday 4 June 2016.

The programme includes the existing MPL route and also provides two additional easyJet-focussed training routes; the easyJet MPL Upgrade and the easyJet Integrated ATPL. Focused on easyJet-specific multi-crew operations, aircraft type and the airline’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the programme is designed to equip trainees for Airbus A320 type-rating training, line training and ultimately, a professional airline pilot career with easyJet. Applications are now open via the CTC Aviation website

Applicants to the Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme who successfully complete a selection process with CTC Aviation and easyJet will now have the opportunity to join one of three training routes, determined by performance in selection and training; and academic qualifications:

CTC WINGS MPL in partnership with easyJet Selected and mentored by easyJet from day one, trainees will embark upon a journey through CTC Aviation’s Crew Training Centres in the UK and New Zealand or USA and directly to the role of co-pilot on Airbus A320 aircraft, flying easyJet routes across Europe.

CTC WINGS easyJet MPL Upgrade For those who perform to an excellent standard in selection but are initially not offered a place on the CTC WINGS MPL in partnership with easyJet, the easyJet MPL upgrade provides a further opportunity to join the MPL route. Candidates will be invited to enrol upon the CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL route and, following completion of ‘Ground School’, the highest performing trainees will be selected to upgrade and continue their training along the easyJet MPL route and will move seamlessly into easyJet operations as a co-pilot upon graduation.

CTC WINGS easyJet Integrated ATPL This route provides a further opportunity to join easyJet for those who successfully complete selection and commence CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL training, but are not shortlisted to upgrade to MPL on completion of ‘Ground School’, or do not hold the academic qualifications required for the MPL route. Trainees will continue on the Integrated ATPL route tailored to easyJet A320 aircraft and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) before launching an exciting flying career as an easyJet co-pilot on completion of A320 type rating and line training.

Unrivalled Opportunities Those who do not hold the academic qualifications required for the MPL route and are not selected to join the easyJet Integrated ATPL will be able continue their CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL training route and, on completing the multi-crew phase of training to the CTC WINGS standard, will have the opportunity to attend a further selection event with CTC Aviation and easyJet. Those who emerge successful from the selection process will be offered easyJet placement as an A320 co-pilot and continue to A320 type rating, before joining the next generation of easyJet flight crew.

Trainees on the Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme will benefit from a number of enhancements including CTC WINGS Training Sponsorship, CTC WINGS ‘Performance Protection’ and most significantly, an offer of placement as an easyJet co-pilot on completion of training. Furthermore, outstanding applicants will have the opportunity to apply for all or part of a training loan to be underwritten by the airline. In partnership with the British Women Pilots’ Association, easyJet will also underwrite a full training loan for six successful female candidates who are selected to join the MPL route as part of their ‘Amy Johnson Flying Initiative’ - an opportunity exclusively available through CTC Aviation.

CTC Aviation also provides unrivalled easyJet placement opportunities for graduates of its flagship CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL ‘Whitetail’ Route, CTC TAKEOFF Integrated and Modular CPL/IR Route and CTC ATP Route. In the last 18 months, CTC Aviation has placed 240 graduates from these routes with easyJet.

The launch of the Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme forms a significant element of easyJet’s drive to find 400 newly-qualified pilots this year alone and is part of a longer term strategy by the airline to support its continued growth and structure for the future.

Philip Smallwood, Head of Pilot Resource for easyJet commented, “At easyJet we are focused on identifying the highest-calibre of pilots and providing them with fantastic career opportunities. We offer our pilots a clear career path from their very first line flight, with the opportunity to progress from First Officer to Captain much quicker than other carriers. “We are now also focused on investing in the training of more pilots than ever before to support our future growth. We have selected CTC Aviation to deliver the Generation easyJet Pilot Training Programme and we are confident that they will find the quality and quantity of pilots we require to maintain our position as Europe’s leading airline. “This is a first-of-its-kind initiative at the leading edge of innovative pilot training and recruitment. We are excited to welcome the next generation of future easyJet co-pilots through the programme over the coming months.”
