This award recognises Cummins’ continued commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community, including Reservists, Veterans and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs).

After receiving the ERS Silver Award in 2024, Cummins has secured Gold status in 2025 with a continued commitment to forming an inclusive and supportive environment for colleagues who serve, or have served, in the armed forces.

Cummins has further strengthened its role as an advocate for the Employee Recognition Scheme (ERS), actively encouraging other employers to get involved. The company has provided one-to-one guidance to customers and shared best practices to help organisations understand the value of supporting the Armed Forces community.

Cummins also continued to enhance the initiatives first established during its Silver accreditation. Each year, the company marks key dates such as Remembrance Day and Armed Forces Day, reinforcing its commitment to those who serve.

This year’s Remembrance Day saw around 900 employees across three UK sites, alongside colleagues joining virtually, take time to pause and reflect during a company-wide commemoration. Many of these events also welcome serving military personnel and veterans from the surrounding communities, further strengthening Cummins’ longstanding support for the Armed Forces.

Richard Twinn, Product Development Leader and Co-chair of the Cummins Armed Forces community network, said: “We were thrilled to win Silver in 2024, but knew there would be a step change in expectations of Gold. Fortunately, Cummins has a culture of embracing excellence, and we worked with a large number of enthusiastic colleagues to ramp up our efforts to support the armed forces community. Here we are, 12 months later with new tools, practices and policies in place that demonstrate our commitment as a Gold Award holder.”

Lisa Hill, UK Prototype Planning Leader and Co-chair of the Cummins Armed Forces community network, added: “As a reservist, I’ve experienced firsthand the value of the support we receive and it’s made me truly appreciate how fortunate I am to work for a company that prioritises these commitments and provides these benefits.

“I know many fellow reservists who struggle without the same backing from their employers and it can significantly hinder their ability to serve effectively.”

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encompasses Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
