DEA Group appoints Lee Madden as Delivery Director

DEA Group, comprising DEA Aviation and European Specialised Airborne Operations (ESAO), is marking 20 years in business and 10 years of International Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations.

Alongside this milestone, DEA has been strengthening its leadership team, recently appointing Lee Madden (above) as Delivery Director to focus on scaling operational capacity across the Group’s UK and Malta bases, driving contract execution and accelerating the deployment of integrated mission technologies.

The UK-based aviation and technology group has carried out more than 6,419 missions and 64,800 operational flying hours across maritime patrol, land-border surveillance, counter-smuggling activity, fisheries control, international embargo enforcement and search-and-rescue operations.

Over the years, DEA Group’s operations have supported multinational missions, including work with Government Entities and Coast Guard Agencies.

The milestone comes amid growing demand for specialist airborne capability to support border security, maritime-domain awareness and protection of the blue economy.

DEA’s model combines lighter, fuel-efficient patrol aircraft with larger multi-sensor platforms, alongside in-house sensor integration and data-analysis capability.

Remaining responsive to ensure timely delivery of actionable intelligence

Our approach has been to integrate appropriate technology quickly, deploy efficiently and provide clients with actionable intelligence when and where it is needed.”

DEA operates a fleet of 20 mission-equipped aircraft, of which up to 12 aircraft can be deployed on operational sorties across Europe at a given time. Operations have spanned 49 regional and international locations to date and identified more than 2,400 illicit maritime targets.
