The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is on the lookout for talented, creative, dedicated and innovative individuals to fill a number of roles, from specialist scientists and engineers, to analysts, programme and project managers and finance, logistics, medical and communications personnel.

Current opportunities include its apprenticeship schemes set to start autumn 2023, applications for which are now open.

Dstl are currently recruiting for large numbers of the following roles to help it meet the government’s priorities for science and technology in defence and security:

There are also opportunities to apply for two PhD machine learning projects, run in partnership with Dstl at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Distributed Algorithms.

The UK’s Military Aviation Authority has issued a Military Type Certificate (MTC) to the Royal Air Force’s Protector RG Mk1 uncrewed aircraft - also designated the MQ-9B - certifying that it has passed a rigorous airworthiness assessment and verifying it is safe to operate without geographic restrictions, including over populous areas.
