Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Airbus' Finkenwerder site

As part of their first official tour of Germany, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Finkenwerder Airbus site with their two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Klaus Richter, Chairman of the Board of Airbus in Germany, welcomed the British Royal Family last Friday, who were accompanied by First Mayor of Hamburg Olaf Scholz.

“It is a special honour to welcome The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to our Airbus site,” said Richter. “We are happy to see their interest in aircraft construction here in Hamburg. In the global Airbus network, the United Kingdom plays a key role: the wings for all Airbus aircraft at the final assembly line here in Hamburg come from the UK.”

The Duke and Duchess visited the Airbus vocational training facilities and learned about the German apprentice system, with trainees presenting typical Airbus apprentice jobs. This was followed by a tour of the final assembly line for A320 aircraft, where the couple was informed about innovations in aircraft construction and viewed the cockpit of an A320.
