Dyer & Butler trains STEM Ambassadors

Dyer & Butler, a multi-disciplined engineering services specialist focused on essential infrastructure including airports (part of M Group Services), is providing training to 30 of its people that will see them become fully authorised STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Ambassadors.

Once fully trained and authorised, Dyer & Butler STEM Ambassadors support a wide number of events at schools and colleges in the local community, providing STEM-related careers information and guidance to children and young adults.

Dyer & Butler Safety, Sustainability and Training Director Steve Broom commented: “Our industry is currently facing a massive skills shortage and, as a responsible and sustainable business, we are committed to addressing this resourcing issue at its roots, with a strategy to engage young people and highlight the many STEM-related career opportunities that exist across the rail, aviation and transport sectors.

"Our teams of volunteers have supported several events this year, ranging from talks in schools through to attendance at regional careers fairs. We have set a target of 50 STEM activities for this year and we are well on course to exceed this number thanks to the volunteering efforts of our growing network of STEM ambassadors.”
