The EO DataHub is a pathfinder service designed to offer UK users a step-change in Earth Observation data access and quality, serving commercial users, government, researchers and students.

The overall goal of the project is to develop and operate a new centralised software infrastructure – the DataHub – to provide a new ‘single point’ of access for UK EO data offerings from distributed public and commercial centres.

Access to additional EO data providers is expected to follow.

The EODH project brings together a strong team of delivery partners from across the EO industry, including Earth-i, Planet Labs, Airbus, Telespazio, GeoSpark, Spyrosoft and Oxidian to provide services to the EODH project team that includes National Centre for Earth Observation (Lead Organisation), specifically the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) and the University of Leicester, National Physical Laboratory, Met Office and UK Space Agency.

The EODH is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council as part of the Earth Observation Investment Package of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

Charles Davis, CEO at Earth-i, said: “Following on from Earth-i’s success of working with Planet Labs team on other government contracts such as the RPA in 2023, it is great to be working with the EODH project team to unlock the immense power of Earth Observation data across UK Government to ensure that UK science is at the forefront of global EO discovery and policy, and supporting and growing the UK downstream geospatial data analytics industry to become a global leader.”

Philip Kershaw, Head of the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis, added: “The award of these contracts marks a major milestone in the EO DataHub. I am excited as with these new partners joining as we move into the full implementation phase for the programme.”
