Elbit subsidiary presents UAS and other solutions for US Armed Forces at AUSA

Elbit Systems of America, LLC - a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd. - is presenting several solutions designed to enhance US Armed Forces' capabilities, at the Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting and Exposition (AUSA), currently taking place in Washington DC (10-12 October, 2011).

Several video presentations will depict the successful integration of systems from multiple Elbit Systems of America business units, designed to empower the warfighter for even the most complicated battle scenarios. Viewers are given the experience of dynamic and totally realistic operational scenarios. Whether deployed in combat, low intensity conflict or peacekeeping operations, these solutions are designed to allow units to operate in complex conflicts and urban environments.

Elbit's Skylark I LE and the Hermes 450 are the two unmanned aircraft systems (UAS') being showcased at the event, with the Hermes 450 having an operationally proven track record of more than 15 years and over 200,000 hours. The Hermes 450 can be launched and recovered from both prepared and semi-prepared runways. This medium-size, multi-payload UAS can operate two payloads simultaneously (many payload options) and provide persistent surveillance with endurance in excess of 18 hours (up to 30 hours with external fuel tanks).

The Skylark I LE Unmanned Aircraft System is based on the operationally-proven Skylark I UAS, currently used by many coalition partners. The LE version increases the system’s operational range to 15km and the endurance to approximately three hours. The system also features a unique gyroscopic-stabilised, gimbaled payload optimally integrated with algorithms derived from the larger Hermes 450 UAS to enable auto-tracking of dynamic targets. A hand-launched unit, the Skylark I-LE UAS combines the characteristics normally reserved for larger UAS within the form-factor of a man-portable system.

In addition, Elbit Systems of America’s Real-Time Laboratories (RTL) subsidiary will be displaying a wide array of advanced Life Support Systems (LSS) and hydraulic products for tactical and combat vehicles at the AUSA exposition.

Other solutions being showcased are laser (Rattler-A and Serpent-M) and thermal imaging systems (Emerald-RSTA, Emerald-SD and MKII and MK V Thermal Beacons), plus computing and communications interoperability solutions, including ruggadised hand held computers (the Tacter-31D and 31-M), the RPDA-57 ruggedised personal data assistant, the TC-150M multi-band power amplifier and the PCIDM V4 modem used for ultra-mobile systems, suitable for use with close air support, Situational Awareness and Command and Control Networks, Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) and the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC).
