The inaugural flight landed at BHX at 11:51 BST, helping reconnect people and businesses in the Midlands to the 74 cities currently on Emirates’ growing network.

Flights between Dubai and Birmingham will operate four times a week, utilising an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. These will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, with the inbound flight departing DXB at 7:35 (GST) and arriving in BHX at 12:20 (BST). The outbound flight will depart BHX at 14:20 (BST) and arrive in DXB at 00:25 (GST) the following day.

The resumption of flights from Birmingham makes the airport the fourth Emirates UK gateway to reopen, alongside London Heathrow, Manchester, and Glasgow. Each gateway provides UK customers with access to destinations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific through Emirates’ Dubai hub. However, with travel restrictions remaining in place in many countries, customers are reminded to check entry and exit requirements before travelling.

Richard Jewsbury, Divisional Vice President UK at Emirates said: “Our teams in Birmingham and Dubai are delighted to be resuming passenger flights, reconnecting the Midlands with Emirates’ global network. We have taken comprehensive steps to keep our passengers, colleagues and communities safe, and look forward to welcoming passengers once again.”

Free, global cover for COVID-19 related costs: Customers can now travel with confidence, as Emirates has committed to cover COVID-19 related medical expenses, free of cost, should they be diagnosed with COVID-19 during their time away from home.  For more details visit: www.emirates.com/COVID19assistance.

In addition, Emirates has revised its booking policies so that customers whose travel plans are disrupted by COVID-19 related flight or travel restrictions can rebook to fly at a later time, request travel vouchers to offset against future Emirates purchases, or request refunds via the Emirates website or their travel agent.

Health and Safety: Emirates has implemented a comprehensive set of measures at every step of the customer journey to ensure the safety of its customers and employees on the ground and in the air, including the distribution of complimentary hygiene kits containing masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes to all customers. Full details on Emirate’s enhanced health and safety measures are available at: www.emirates.com/yoursafety
