Falcon rebrands as Merlin PCB Group

The Falcon PCB Group is nearing the end of a five year plan which has seen considerable growth both organically and through acquisition, with the final step of the plan being the consolidation of operations and rebranding as Merlin PCB Group.

A sustained period of investment both in plant and personnel has enabled the group to develop the high technology rigid PCB facility, Merlin Circuit Technology Ltd and the flex and flex-rigid facility, Merlin Flex-Ability Ltd, which have both been upgraded in capability, capacity, and resource and floor space.

Merlin Circuit Technology Ltd, in Deeside, North Wales, has re-located the office areas to first floor level and along with some additional building work has increased the manufacturing area. Merlin Flex-Ability, in Hartlepool, has installed a mezzanine level, acquired a further business unit and has planning permission for further expansion when required. In addition resource at both sites has been increased.

These sites are now in a position to absorb the work from other divisions within the group. Therefore the site at Littlehampton will cease manufacture by the end of 2013.

Service focused economic offshore supply from the groups' Kestrel International Circuits Ltd will remain unchanged.

Consolidating the Littlehampton facility within the other facilities of the group is a major step forward and one that will enable further ongoing investment, development of staff and further our technology roadmap across flex, flex-rigid and rigid PCB's. In addition the focus will be on approvals. The group currently possesses SC21 Bronze and AS9100 Rev C. The next approval goal is NADCAP.

Group chairman Neil Martin said "There has been a huge effort from all involved with the development of our key UK manufacturing sites and we are in a strong position to grow beyond our current group sales of £20m. We are ready to move forward with our next objectives which are, to continue to further increase our technical capability, provide career paths for our employees and develop market leading service solutions for our customers."

The rebranding process which will see the Falcon PCB Group become Merlin PCB Group is aimed at more accurately reflecting the company's evolution and clearly defineing each of its three core services; UK manufactured flexible and flex rigid circuits, UK rigid board manufacture and economic offshore supply.
