Flybe's new Manchester-Waterford service takes off

Flybe has today seen the first flight of its 19th route from Manchester Airport take off to Waterford at the start of a new service that offers up to four return flights a week to Ireland's oldest city, with the inaugural flight receiving a spectacular water arc welcome by Waterford Airport's fire service.

Waterford is on Ireland’s picturesque South East Coast and is famous especially for its Waterford Crystal and 200 year-old Cathedral. The many events being held in this year of ‘The Gathering’ in Ireland are already attracting large numbers of tourists and Waterford is one of the cities with a strong programme of cultural events.

The new route reaffirms Flybe’s commitment to developing further the number of services it operates from its Manchester hub. Inbound passengers from Waterford are expected to take advantage of the many connections available not only with Flybe’s own extensive network throughout the UK and regional Europe, but also of the seamless onward connections available through its codeshare and interline partners to a huge range of worldwide destinations, when booked through a travel agent.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) chief Commercial Officer, Ken O’Toole said: “It’s fantastic that Flybe are adding another new route from Manchester. Waterford is a popular city and we look forward to welcoming passengers to Manchester Airport who will be using this new service. It will also mean passengers arriving into Manchester direct from Waterford will now have a huge choice of ongoing destinations for either business or leisure travel.”
