G&P appoints David Whiffin UK general manager

Quality management experts G&P has significantly strengthened its UK senior management team with the appointment of experienced aerospace industry executive, David Whiffin, in the role of UK general manager.

In the position, David will lead G&P’s UK business, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the company’s current client relationships and transferring its extensive automotive industry experience into the aerospace and other related sectors. The move will then allow many more high-value manufacturing companies across a wide range of sectors to experience improvements in their quality management, resulting in the numerous benefits of lean production, waste reduction and eradication of non-conformities, utilising the award winning Quality Excellence Model.

“I’m incredibly excited to be taking on this role and helping G&P continue to move forward,” commented David Whiffin (right), UK general manager, G&P. “The company has achieved substantial growth and success in recent years and I will be looking to extend this through the combination of my own aerospace industry experience and G&P’s established global position in both the automotive and aerospace sectors.

As a qualified engineer, David has considerable experience in the aerospace industry in military, civil and commercial environments. He started his career as a helicopter engineering apprentice in the army before working for some major airlines and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organisations across a wide range of aircraft types. David also worked for a major helicopter manufacturer, reducing the operating costs for an MoD aircraft programme as well as leading programme delivery for manufacture and delivery of several Airbus A380 components. Most recently David established Altran, an aerospace manufacturing consultancy business for a global engineering consultancy taking the business to a turnover of £5m within its first two years.

Speaking on the appointment, Arne Willerslev-Legrand, group managing director, G&P, said: “We are delighted to welcome David in this strategically significant move for us. G&P has already established a good working relationship with many high-value manufacturers and their component suppliers across a growing range of industry sectors. With David’s appointment, we intend to help even more improve their quality issues, reduce their levels of waste and benefit from similar lean manufacturing processes that are widely and successful adopted across other sectors. In addition to embracing David’s industry experience to improve our client’s performance, David will utilise our award-winning, innovative Quality Excellence Model, targeting the root cause of manufacturing problems and eradicate them at source, significantly enhancing our customers’ overall environmental performance.”
