IDEX 2013: Distraction grenades make big bang for Primetake

An award-winning range of distraction grenades designed to provide military and law enforcement agencies with a safe, versatile and cost-effective solution is being promoted at IDEX by UK specialist supplier Primetake.

Lincoln-based Primetake claims best-in-class performance for its TLD grenades which include a patented reusable device.

The product’s ergonomical design eliminates movement on detonation and the danger of directional flame or pressure, giving it full radial distribution of light, sound and air pressure to disorientate and distract individuals in tactical entry, space denial or control situations.

The reloadable grenades can be used up to 100 times with either training or operational cartridges. “These devices are extremely cost-effective without compromising safety and effectiveness,” Paul Ames, Middle East and Africa sales manager, said at IDEX.

The grenades are designed to offer single or multi-bang options, with delays in operation ranging from half a second to 2.5 seconds. Primetake can customise the charge to exacting specifications of light, noise and shock wave as per the end-user’s requirement.

Primetake is also promoting its range of ceremonial saluting ammunition. It is already in use in several Gulf countries where it is used for state occasions and during Ramadan to mark the end of the day’s fasting. The ammunition can be manufactured in any calibre and filled with a fixed charge specified by the customer or a multiple of bag charges to allow for flexibility in use. The cartridges are designed to produce smoke and sound effects with minimual debris.
