Julie Black appointed to BACA Council
The appointment took place following a recent meeting of the BACA Council at the Baltic Exchange in London. Julie, who is UK head of VIP Charter at Chapman Freeborn, has been in the aviation industry for more than 20 years and brings a wealth of aviation experience and vitality to the Association.
Julie’s aviation career began as a graduate in the marketing department of London City Airport, and was followed by roles at Regional Airports Limited at London Biggin Hill Airport. Initially Julie was managing marketing and PR and subsequently took on additional responsibility for the handling and customer service functions at both Biggin Hill and Northolt Handling.
In 2003 Julie was invited to join Chapman Freeborn and quickly developed into an excellent charter broker, specialising in Music and Entertainment. In 2011 Julie was asked to take responsibility for the development and management of the Chapman Freeborn UK VIP team. The team comprises of multinational charter experts handling the requirements of HNWI’s, corporations and the global music and entertainment industry.
Speaking about her new role on the BACA Council Julie advises “I’m really excited to join the BACA Council. The unique air charter industry has never been so vibrant and challenges abound for all sectors. I hope my background from different aviation disciplines and a viewpoint from the perspective of working for a global air charter company such as Chapman Freeborn will stand me in good stead to represent BACA, its members and associates and the air charter industry as a whole. I consider it a key message to help promote the value of the broking industry to customers and suppliers alike and to widen the profile of the air charter industry.”

The Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) is the world’s largest air charter organisation. Formed in 1949 and closely associated with the Baltic Exchange, BACA delivers a wide range of aviation expertise throughout the air charter industry. The Associations purpose is to ensure that all companies involved in aircraft chartering meet high standards of integrity and professionalism. With corporate membership now in excess of 200 companies, BACA is recognised as the voice of the air charter industry by many official aviation bodies and government departments. Its members include air charter brokers, aircraft operators, airports, handling agents and many other aviation related companies. BACA also offers a series of training days and networking events for its members throughout the year.
