Loganair signs SAF offtake agreement with ClimaHtech Green Flight

Loganair and ClimaHtech Green Flight today announced a 15-year Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) offtake agreement, supporting the long-term decarbonisation of regional aviation in the UK.

Under the agreement, Loganair intends to offtake SAF for a period of 15 years. The SAF will be produced using ClimaHtech Green Flight’s advanced technology pathways, including BioSAF (Power-Biomass-to-Liquid) and eSAF (Power-to-Liquid).

ClimaHtech Green Flight’s technology enables decentralised SAF production that can utilise waste biomass feedstocks and flexibly operate alongside intermittent renewable power sources through its proprietary technology.

ClimaHtech Green Flight is currently developing a first of its kind SAF production project, aligning closely with Loganair’s core operational footprint across the Scottish Highlands, Islands and regional UK routes, including Northern Ireland.

The agreement supports the UK Government’s SAF mandate and reflects a shared ambition to develop locally produced, scalable SAF solutions that can serve regional aviation close to their operations while reducing lifecycle carbon emissions.

Luke Farajallah, Chief Executive Officer of Loganair, said: “As the UK’s largest regional airline, Loganair plays a vital role in connecting communities across the UK, particularly in areas where aviation is a lifeline rather than a luxury. Decarbonising regional aviation is therefore both a responsibility and a practical challenge. This long-term agreement with ClimaHtech Green Flight is an important step in securing access to Sustainable Aviation Fuel that is produced closer to where we operate, supports UK supply chains, and reflects our commitment to lower our carbon footprint.”

Mel Courtney, Chief Executive Officer of ClimaHtech Green Flight, said: “This offtake agreement with Loganair demonstrates strong airline confidence in our SAF pathways and our ambition to build a distributed, regional SAF production model.  The ClimaHtech electrically driven platform is more tolerant to intermittent renewable power supply thus enabling direct connection to renewable electricity assets. By combining this with highly efficient energy and biomass utilisation, we are bringing a scalable and resilient approach to SAF deployment.”

The parties will continue to work together as ClimaHtech Green Flight advances project development, regulatory engagement and site selection, with a view to supplying SAF by 2029.
