MAETA celebrates its first year

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Training Academy (MAETA), a division of the award-winning aircraft maintenance provider Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited (MAEL) is celebrating one year of operations, having trained close to 1,650 engineers since opening in January 2013.

The state-of-the-art Academy is one of only five centres worldwide which provides B1/B2 type engineering training for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Its instructors are at the very forefront of aviation engineering training, ensuring Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s status as a Boeing GoldCare provider.

MAETA trained 1,000 UK engineers and 650 globally, playing a vital role in providing a pipeline of skilled aircraft engineers for MAEL and the wider industry, the Academy (based at Luton Airport) is also essential to Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s apprenticeship programme.

The Academy features a well-equipped learning centre, spacious classrooms, student study areas and access to online libraries and IT facilities. MAETA allows apprentices and engineers to spend real time training on aircraft in Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s hangar facilities, thus enabling students to build up practical as well as theoretical knowledge.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering’s apprenticeship programme is one of the strongest in the business, producing over 700 high-calibre engineers for both MAEL and the wider aviation industry; and has just announced 20 apprenticeship positions for its summer 2014 intake.

MAETA has the capability of delivering Part 147 approved training on Boeing and Airbus types from general familiarisation to B1/B2 level and Part 147 approval for the Cat “A” Licence that has been embedded into the MAEL apprenticeship scheme.

MAETA not only trains aircraft engineers for a range of airlines in the UK, it also provides engineering training internationally, most recently training full BI type training for the Boeing 737 NG for flydubai’s engineers at the carrier’s facility in Dubai.

Commenting on the one year Anniversary of MAETA, Mick Adams, managing director of MAEL said: “We are delighted to celebrate the one year anniversary of MAETA, which has provided the highest level of training for MAEL’s apprentices, engineers and the wider industry.

"Delivering high quality aviation engineering courses in the UK and abroad is a great testament to the skill of our instructors and cements MAEL as an industry leader in aircraft engineering and training.”
