The AVS OWSM programme is one of three contracts planned by Canada's Department of National Defence (DND) to support the RCAF's CC130 Hercules legacy transport fleet. The Primary Air Vehicle (PAV) OWSM Program, on which Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group Canada is also the engineering subcontractor, has been underway since 2006.

The AVS OWSM programme extends the reach for overall CC130 aircraft lifecycle management, and the contract with Cascade Aerospace will extend until 2016 with options for additional tranches.

Steve Fitz-Gerald, CEO of Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group, said: “The CC130 AVS OWSM subcontract win solidifies the roles of Cascade Aerospace and Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group Canada in supporting the legacy RCAF CC130 fleet.”

In addition to their military role, the RCAF’s CC130E/H fleet of aircraft are also used for Search and Rescue (SAR) missions, which are of great importance in a country the size of Canada and which is sparsely populated in the North.

Fitz-Gerald continues: “I am thrilled that Marshall’s engineering expertise and project management capabilities will be contributing to the reliability and high availability of these aircraft.”

Marshall’s relationship with the C-130 platform and its OEM, Lockheed Martin, dates back to the early 1960s. The company is presently working with the air forces of 10 countries and, in addition to standard MRO and deeper maintenance work, Marshall has performed more than 1,500 modifications and upgrades for over 35 C-130 military and civil operators worldwide.
