MAG, the UK’s largest airports group, is entering a significant phase of capital development to modernise assets, expand capacity, improve resilience and deliver progress against its sustainability ambitions, including net zero carbon operations by 2038. Its airports handled more than 54 million passengers last year and remain central to the UK’s regional growth, international connectivity and long-term economic competitiveness.

Mott MacDonald will provide an integrated package of support covering project services (Lot 2) in partnership with CPC Project Services, early-stage architectural design (Lot 7) and fire engineering consultancy (Lot 9). Together, these lots will allow MAG to draw on a coordinated pool of technical expertise that will help shape, plan and safely deliver high quality airport infrastructure.

This appointment builds on Mott MacDonald’s sustained involvement in supporting UK and global aviation clients with the planning, design and delivery of safe, efficient and sustainable airport operations. The company has worked with MAG on multiple projects including Stansted transformation planning and design, Manchester and East Midlands substation upgrade designs and the East Midlands cargo masterplan.

Richard Cooper CICS Framework manager at MAG said: “We welcome Mott MacDonald’s appointment to the framework. Its technical capabilities and experience in complex aviation environments will play an important role in delivering the next phase of our investment programme ensuring our airports continue to provide safe, efficient and modern facilities for passengers and partners.”
